Although many examples brought here were based on women’s experiences, we shouldn’t forget men also suffer from body shaming. Much like women, men are often expected to be in shape and display their masculine side. Aging, and the weight gain that comes with it, can have a strong effect on men’s self-esteem. So it’s important that men have role models out there that learned how to overcome these hardships.

Vin Diesel built his career around his strong physique and macho-men persona, so it’s no surprise the public went crazy when they realized he was getting old (duh) and gaining a few pounds. Vin Diesel is not one to stay quiet, and he let everyone know these kinds of comments are hateful, and he has more important things to focus on than the fat on his belly. It’s nice to see a positive representation of aging men out there!
