7. This Explains a Lot
Oxford University goes way back in time as the oldest university in England. There is evidence to it holding classes as early as 1096, nearly 1,000 years ago. The Aztec Empire, for reference, was not founded until 1428 and collapsed in 1521.

Despite the famous monuments and structures the Aztecs have left behind, their empire only lasted 97 years, and when first budding into existence, Oxford was 300 years old, with its 200th graduating class. How do you like them apples?
