25. A Truly Tragic 48 Hours

Now these are both very familiar names. The Jonestown Massacre was a tragedy of the highest degree. It happened in 1978 and is the origin of the idiom “drinking the Kool-aid.” During the span of 48 hours of this event, the Star Wars Christmas special was also released, weirdly enough.

It is a trippy, surreal disaster of a movie that most of us wish didn’t exist. The fact it came out at the same time as such a dark moment in American history is just… odd, really. There’s no other way to describe it. Try wrapping your head around that.
