Here’s an incredible story about triumphing in the face of adversity, when the deck has quite literally and quite deliberately been stacked against you. Despite the producers trying to make sure she lost, Joyce Diane instead triumphed over incredible odds.

She went on to appear on TV programs and write for magazines, helping popularize ideas about psychology for a lot of Americans. She had her own talk show and also made acting appearances on TV shows and in movies. She was also the first woman to commentate on a boxing match and hosted a sports show for a while. She was just all-around a pretty amazing woman.
