#19: Making History
American actress Laverne Cox made history as the first transgender actress to be nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for her role in the popular series Orange Is the New Black. On top of being a great actress, Cox has an important role in the entertainment industry as an LGBT advocate.

Cox has become such an influential figure in the LGBT community, that Mattel has released a new Barbie version modeled after her – the first-ever transgender Barbie doll. According to the actress, it’s been her dream to design her very own Barbie doll – isn’t that something most little girls dream of? And we can’t think of anyone more deserving than her.
