14. I, Too, Wish I Was a Bonobo
Humans share a closer genetic relationship with bonobos than with chimpanzees. Despite similarities in appearance, bonobos and chimpanzees are distinct species, but both are closely related to humans. Genetic studies have shown that humans share approximately 98.7% of their DNA with bonobos, while sharing about 98.6% with chimpanzees.

This small difference in genetic makeup suggests a more recent common ancestor with bonobos than with chimpanzees. Bonobos, known for their peaceful and egalitarian social structure, exhibit behaviors and cognitive abilities that are more similar to humans than those of chimpanzees.
