#5: Sports, Go Sports!

A common stereotype in our society is that men love sports and women don’t. This is very obviously not accurate, because people of all ages, genders, and identities love sports! Believe it or not, there are also some men who could care less about sports. We know, it’s SO surprising (not). This guy is one of those people who have zero interest in any type of sport, and he often feels singled out for it at work.

He vented about how his office job heavily genders their employee activities. All of the “men” activities center around different types of sports and all of the “women” events are things like spa days. Since he hates sports, he absolutely did not want to embarrass himself by trying to golf in front of his coworkers during a recent outing. He said he’d much rather go do the spa day activity, and it’s a bummer knowing that there are lots of people who can’t fully express themselves because of the double standards for men and women.
