#40: Money Moves

Being broke is one of the double standards that came up a lot, too. Someone pointed out that it’s totally fine for a girl to be broke while she’s dating, but if you’re a broke guy it’s a whole other story. Even though our views about gender roles have changed quite a lot, there’s still the expectation that guys will pay for everything on a date and financially “take care of” the girl they’re with.

Sure, some couples want that and are totally fine with that setup. Money shouldn’t be the only reason you’re with someone, though! Nowadays men and women tend to split costs for dinners and dates, but there’s still the idea that if a guy is broke he’s a loser. The same doesn’t go for women, which seems unfair.
