#11: Once More, with Feeling
On top of men being expected to never cry, they’re also expected to never show their emotions, period. Society’s idea of “manliness” can make some men feel like they have to always be dominant, aggressive, and tough. This can be harmful because it prevents men from being in touch with their feelings since emotions are too “feminine.” (Spoiler alert: they’re not because literally, everyone on the planet has feelings.)

It’s healthy to talk about how you’re feeling with friends and loved ones. It’s not a sign of weakness to communicate with your partner or family. In fact, it’s pretty healthy! Talking about your feelings can help you work through problems, relieve stress, and generally improve mental health. We should stop expecting men to act like emotionless, tough robots all the time.
