Two-Way Street

One important part of a relationship is recognizing that everything is a two-way street – you can’t demand particular behavior from your partner and not reciprocate it! If you demand too much without giving, this can cause a major power balance. But who usually has the most power in a relationship?

According to surveys by Quartz, both men and women report the same level of power imbalances in relationships. However, the idea of a power imbalance is more important for women than men. In the study, women felt less powerful than their partners though the relationship was more unstable and lacking intimacy.
