#13: Aren’t We Past That?

Sexism in the workplace is alive and well, and this story proves it. This woman was interviewing for a different reporter position within the newspaper company she already worked at. The position was for a night sports reporter gig, which she was genuinely excited about and interested in. Her excitement was quickly extinguished during the interview, though. 

The guy interviewing her was pretty condescending and said he didn’t understand why she was interviewing for the position. She was, after all, a “young, married woman,” so why would she even be good at being a sports reporter? Don’t worry- it gets worse. He then went on to basically offer the position to her husband… on the mere fact that he was a man. He wasn’t even a reporter! While this happened decades ago, unfortunately, we’re sure stuff like this still happens today.
