#8: It’s a Party in the OR
I think the most surprising thing about this is not the knowledge that doctors listen to music but the way that it messes with our collective imagination of what an operating room looks, feels, and sounds like. And that’s probably because we’ve all seen countless operating rooms on TV but far fewer in real life.

In reality, I suppose there’s no reason why doctors and nurses should any less listen to music at work than the rest of us. We all know it can be beneficial to our concentration as well as our moods. And anyway, it’s not like we’re talking about life-and-death situations.
