Undoubtedly we know this. You’re talking to readers who’ve lived through 2020, 2021, and 2022. We’re not the naive readers of 2019 who thought the whole world was under control, global warming would be curbed, and there was no possibility of a global pandemic trapping us all in our houses.

No, no, we are the hardened, disillusioned readers of 2023 who know that the only direction for the world to go in is straight down into apocalyptic chaos, World War III, and a third Ice Age. Of course we darn well know that hospitals are more often than not understaffed.
