#28: Just Hope For the Best

Oh. Um. I’m sorry. Are you sure? I’m a little bit speechless. I wish I didn’t know this. I suppose that’s the whole point. We wish we didn’t know. We’d rather hear something good than hear the truth. So are the doctors lying to us because it comforts us or because it comforts them?

Maybe giving us positive words and receiving a positive reaction gives them hope that something will go well. Either way, I don’t know how I’m going to restore my faith now in what doctors tell me during surgery. I guess from now on, I’ll just have to know not to ask and to hope for the best.
