The Bundy and Rhoades names weren’t inspired by a notorious serial killer, as many fans assumed. Instead, they were nods to two famous pro wrestlers of the era—King Kong Bundy and Dusty Rhodes.

King Kong Bundy even made two guest appearances on the show, once playing himself. The wrestling connection added another layer of humor to Married… with Children, fitting perfectly with the show’s rough-around-the-edges, working-class charm.
