Share of Population Self-Identifying as LGBT

As social awareness of sexual orientation is increasing, more and more people are “coming out of the closet” and self-identifying with the LGBT community. As you can see, in every state around the country, at least two percent of the population is now self-identified as part of the LGBT community.

Our society has definitely made a lot of progress when it comes to accepting people with different sexual orientations, but there’s still a long way to go in the fight for equal rights for the LGBTQ+ community. Still, it’s nice to see that people feel more comfortable these days being open about their sexual preferences and identities.
