47. VIP’s
VIP’s was the largest Oregon-based chain restaurant of its time. It offered sit-down seating, with most locations located along a single interstate highway and, critically, open 24 hours a day. This meant they were ideal rest stops for people on road trips or just craving a midnight meal.

The chain was comparable to a modern-day Denny’s, offering American food in a coffee shop setting. Eventually, the chain was bought out, and the company decided to move into lodging and motels. By 1989, all VIP locations had been shut down permanently.
