36. Pup ‘N’ Taco

Founded in California, Pup ‘n’ Taco was known for serving a variety of fast food delicacies, including hamburgers, hot dogs, tacos, pastrami sandwiches, and tostadas. The first location opened in Pasadena and soon grew to over a hundred locations across California and New Mexico.

In 1984, Taco Bell purchased all but two Pup ‘n’ Taco locations. You can probably imagine why the chain was drawn to buy the restaurant! There were two remaining Pup ‘n’ Taco locations in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which were in operation until 2010.
