35. Lum’s
There’s nothing more American than a hot dog steamed in beer, right? That’s exactly what Lum’s served up, gaining a loyal American following throughout the 50s, 60s, and 70s. The restaurant started off as a meager hot dog stand in Florida before being bought by the Perlman brothers and turned into a chain restaurant.

The chain switched owners many times over the years. The Lum’s Inc. company even purchased a Caesar’s Palace hotel on the Las Vegas strip and had a restaurant there. Unfortunately, the brand became defunct in 1982, and America lost a delicious source of beer-steamed hot dogs.
