13. Chock Full ‘O Nuts
Chock Full ‘O Nuts got its name from the eighteen nut shops that William Black, the chain’s founder, established in 1926. When the Great Depression hit, Black transformed these nut stores into lunch counters, naming them Chock Full O’ Nuts. Black’s chain served sandwiches for five cents.

The brand made it out of the Depression, and it actually became quite popular when it was introduced on the shelves of grocery stores in 1953 as a coffee label. The lunch counter portion of the chain shuttered its doors in the 1970s. However, the brand is owned by Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group, a coffee tycoon.
