If you have a high school education or more, you may find that being the smartest person in the room is one of the few perks of living in prison. It turns out that many prisoners have low levels of education, often including a lack of basic knowledge.

Anyone with a moderate amount of schooling can quickly become a valuable teacher to other inmates, as the inmate in this story found out. With so many hours to get through during a prison sentence, using the time to teach general knowledge to other inmates seems to be one of the most valuable activities to pursue.
