Free but Not
The sense of freedom an inmate can feel while in prison seems quite paradoxical to someone who has never served time. However, having every aspect of your life taken care of for you can be incredibly liberating. That ironic sense of freedom is why the inmate from this story looks back on their sentence with a feeling of nostalgia.

In prison, there is no need for rent, bills, grocery trips, or any other responsibility typical of a so-called free individual. But eliminating those pesky chores from your life can bring an unexpected sense of freedom. Unfortunately, for some, being free from prison means once again becoming a slave to the drudgery of daily life.
