Gang Threats

Perhaps the biggest fear of any new inmate is being ganged up on, in quite a literal sense. It’s no secret that prison is home to many different gang members, many of whom team up to harass vulnerable inmates. Those situations can seem helpless, but there is a surprising tactic that can keep you safe from harm.

One inmate found that the most effective way to avoid gang violence is to just avoid it. In this story, the inmate sat face-to-face with a violent gang for days on end. By doing nothing more than reading a book and eating peacefully, the gang eventually left him alone to find a target that was more interested in starting trouble.
