#44: Oh, Bother
Like many of you, I grew up on Winnie the Pooh. I loved those old Disney cartoons of the stories, even if they did give me a very confused idea about what certain animals look like and how likely they are to have floor rugs and furniture in their burrows.

Personally, I think this one is actually up for debate. Yes, the animals are based on real toys based on the real-life Christopher Robin, the author’s son. But the thing is that they had adventures—real-life adventures with real-life consequences—when Christopher Robin wasn’t with them and when he was busy doing things like going to school. I’m not sure I buy that he was imagining his stuffed animals having adventures while he was also trying to pass a math quiz.
