#21: What’s in a Name?

So, on the one hand, I kind of get this one period after all, what kind of name is “Yosemite”? (In case you’re curious, it’s a weird in Miwok, a Native American language). We don’t have any words even remotely like it in English, so I can understand looking at this word and not understanding how to pronounce it.

There are a lot of things kids mispronounce; the thing is, at some point, they hear adults say it enough times until they learn the correct pronunciation. This person didn’t mention how old they were when they realized it wasn’t pronounced “yo-zmite”, but I can only assume he was pretty old…
