Public speaking isn’t my forte, so I understand how nervous this lawyer was having to make his first court appearance, but that was a massive mistake on their part. If I were that defendant, I would have had a heart attack. Of course, he beat his wife, so maybe he was due to a little physical karma. And 30 years in jail.

I’m glad they all had a good laugh out of it, but I’m still a little put off by the fact that 30 days is the maximum penalty. Shouldn’t it be a bit more if you’ve beaten your spouse? This guy probably didn’t even get the whole 30 days, either. The system is messed up!
