In 1997, Larry Bird shocked the basketball world by becoming head coach of the Indiana Pacers—despite never having coached before. But in true Bird fashion, he proved he belonged. That season, the Pacers finished with a 58–24 record, and Bird was named NBA Coach of the Year.
