#9: He Was Cut From His First Film Appearance
Costner landed a role in The Big Chill (1983), a major film about a group of friends reuniting after one of them dies. He played the dead friend in flashback scenes. However, all of Costner’s scenes were cut when the film was released.

His face never appeared on screen. Still, director Lawrence Kasdan was impressed by him and promised to cast him again. True to his word, Kasdan later offered Costner a role in Silverado (1985)—a performance that introduced him to audiences and helped kick-start his career.
