#13: The Doors’ Memorable Performance on The Ed Sullivan Show
In a leap from high school gigs to chart-topping success with “Light My Fire,” The Doors took the stage on The Ed Sullivan Show on September 17, 1967, performing “People Are Strange” and “Light My Fire” during the iconic Summer of Love.

Despite being asked to modify a lyric in “Light My Fire” for their appearance, Jim Morrison boldly delivered the original line live, stunning millions. Their defiance earned a ban from future shows, to which Morrison coolly responded, acknowledging their unforgettable Sullivan show moment.
