#10: Opening For Van Morrison’s Band, “Them”
In June 1966, The Doors opened for Van Morrison’s Them at the Whisky a Go-Go in Los Angeles. Influenced by Morrison, Elvis, and Sinatra, Jim Morrison’s unique style emerged, with Paul Rothchild likening him to a ‘Rock and Roll Bing Crosby’.

Until their August 21, 1966 dismissal for performing a controversial version of “The End” laced with profanity and references to Oedipus’ myth, The Doors captivated the Sunset Boulevard club, their act heightened by Morrison’s LSD inspiration.
