#38: The Sport of Crashing Trains

Back in the day, trains crashing into each other was a spectator sport in the United States in the mid-19^th century. This is very interesting, though random, because train crashes used to be very dreadful situations that left many devastated. But someone somewhere during this time thought the whole idea grand and decided to create a sport where people congregated to watch trains crash into each other. Riveting.

Now, this kind of makes sense, because people in the 20^th century enjoyed watching monster trucks and huge cars crash into each other time and time again. I guess people just like the destruction of it all, which is kind of sad, but then again… it is kind of cool to see things crash into each other. Right? Maybe not? The jury’s still out on that one.
