#56: Freaky Foxhole
During the war, a foxhole was not a cozy little burrow where a fox goes to binge-watch Netflix. It is a hole in the ground where soldiers take cover from enemy fire. It’s like a DIY bomb shelter but with less HGTV flair, and sometimes, soldiers would even have to share a foxhole with a buddy.

As you might guess, foxholes were not exactly five-star accommodations. They were often cold, wet, and cramped, like camping, but with more explosions. Anyone who had to go down them was brave, as they spent long periods hunkered down there. War is not a glamorous affair, and we should remember those who died.
