This one is super interesting because those photos are only three years apart, yet they look decades different. This is Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, released in 2019. Auteur Quentin Tarantino did a phenomenal job with the script and filmography, though we’ve come to expect no less from him.

Honestly, though, it amazes me how recent films can feel old just through the cinematography and props. The cars, unkempt hedges, and removal of signs (yes, they chop them down and then reinstall them after filming), all add to the dated feel. Fun tidbit: many shops didn’t want their facades redone to look like the ‘60s but eventually gave in.
