Harriet Tubman

Araminta Ross, otherwise known as Harriet Tubman, was born in March 1822; she transcended her origins as a slave to become a fearless American abolitionist and political activist. Tubman’s legacy is synonymous with the Underground Railroad, a covert network of safe houses that she navigated to lead numerous enslaved individuals toward the promise of freedom in the North.

As a testament to her indomitable spirit, Tubman later served as an intelligence officer and spy for the Union Army during the tumultuous American Civil War.
