The Statue of Liberty
This isn’t a historical figure, per se, but an important historical and cultural item, a symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty stands majestically in New York Harbor. Designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and dedicated on October 28, 1886, she is a colossal neoclassical sculpture representing Libertas, the Roman goddess of liberty.

Standing at 151 feet and 1 inch tall, if she were a real woman, she would be a true giant, with a stately crown, torch, and a book held in her hands symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment. Her facial features would convey an air of serene determination, embodying the ideals of liberty and hope. Her flowing robe would evoke the classical drapery seen in Greek and Roman sculptures.
