How it Ended
Monroe and Berle’s relationship ended as Monroe’s career reached new heights. By the mid-1950s, she had become one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, and her professional commitments left little room for personal relationships. Monroe’s increasing focus on her acting career and personal struggles made maintaining her bond with Berle difficult.

While their relationship did not culminate in a public breakup or dramatic falling out, it gradually faded as Monroe’s life became more complex and demanding. However, in his 1975 autobiography, he writes, “Maybe she didn’t know exactly who she was, but she knew she was worth something. She had respect for herself. Marilyn was a lady.”
