Back in the day, people might have seen women as being from the circus if they had facial hair. But now, improvements in medicine have helped our understanding of female facial hair issues improve. In America, around 5 to 10% of women have hirsutism, which causes them to have excessive facial or body hair.

Many other conditions cause unwanted facial hair in women, such as polycystic ovary syndrome, which affects around 6 to 12% of women in America. So perhaps we should be a little kinder to the idea of a woman having a beard – it’s not completely out of the question. And it’s not their fault!
