Bad Joke?

Being on trial is probably nerve-racking (I wouldn’t know, thankfully, but I can only assume), and it could also be stressful for the lawyers and everyone involved. After all, there’s a lot at stake here. So, this lawyer was probably just trying to lighten the mood with a joke, but unfortunately, it looks like he had a tough crowd.

When the defendant’s mother was testifying, our storyteller was the opposing counsel and asked all the routine questions: “what’s your relationship to the defendant” and “how long have you known the defendant.” Of course, seeing as she was the defendant’s mother, everyone in the court already knew the answer. I wouldn’t mind the joke!
