She’s a Gold Digger
This next costume is so simple, yet so creative! These girls took the term “gold digger” to the next level and dressed up as gold diggers – literally. They are digging for gold! I don’t know if this says anything about them and whether or not they’re gold diggers in real life, but I love this costume.

The term “gold digger” originated in the early 20th century among chorus girls and escorts and referred specifically to women because, back in those days, it was more likely for a woman in financial distress to marry a wealthy man than the other way around. One of its first uses in print was in the 1911 book The Ne’er-Do-Well by Rex Beach.
