From the old saying, what came first the chicken or the egg, comes another thought or theory. When a child is conceived, what develops first? This may come as a surprise to you, or perhaps not, considering it is included on this list. We’ll give you a hint: it is not the brain or the heart. In fact, the first thing to evolve in the embryo is the anus.

As you can see, the answer is more surprising than you may have thought. We’ve never actually paid any thought to what’s created first, but it’s an interesting question. If we had to guess, this would probably be our last one. What comes next is the baby’s mouth, quickly followed by the heart and brain, and then the rest of the body develops.
