#25: McDonald’s
In 1940, brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald opened a small barbecue joint in San Bernardino, California, but in 1948, they revolutionized fast food with their “Speedee Service System,” focusing on burgers, fries, and shakes.

Their streamlined approach caught the attention of Ray Kroc, a milkshake machine salesman, who saw massive potential. In 1955, Kroc opened the first official McDonald’s in Des Plaines, Illinois, and soon took the brand nationwide. The Golden Arches became a global symbol of fast food, serving billions.
