#39: Lean In
Are you ready for a hot take on flying? It is my firm and considered opinion that unless you are on an overnight flight, reclining your seat back makes you a jerk. You are forcing your way into someone else’s already limited space, making it impossible for them to watch their TV screen or use a laptop on their tray table or eat.

I think it’s time that we lobby to disable seat back reclining on any flight that doesn’t go overnight. That being said, if you do recline your seat back, now you know why flight attendants always insist that you put them back up. You’re already inconveniencing the person behind you by leaning back; don’t inconvenience them worse by making it hard for them to get out of their seat during an emergency.
