7. The End Is Nigh, In Eight Minutes

Eight minutes to live, were the sun to suddenly vanish or cease working. This is because of the speed of light and the amount of time it would take for it to travel. But its gravity would have a similar effect, where the Earth would continue to orbit where our star was for that amount of time.

The light photons only go as far as they are pulled, and so the end of light will come with the end of the pull. Either way that sounds like it would be a hectic eight minutes… if we were to be aware of it at all, anyway. Perhaps the light and gravity traveling would make it hard to become aware of what had happened.
