45. A Process Far Older Than It Seems
Well, color me mind-blown. This process is called cold-welding, and involves using pressure rather than heat to meld two metals together. It was first discovered on our own planet Earth as early as 1724 when two lead balls were twisted together after coming in contact with each other.

This is a process used in some industries even today, but in space, you wouldn’t need quite as much heavy equipment to cold-weld. The vacuum is enough… if it weren’t for a thin layer of oxidation leftover from our planet on most metals qw bring. So it’s at least not a huge risk of happening spontaneously. Not right now, anyway.
