11. Well Hey There, Neighbor

The universe may be infinite, but not everything has to be a 100% unknown mystery. For example, we are able to in fact, see our neighboring galaxy, Andromeda. It’s not too far, only about, oh, about 2.5 million lightyears from Earth.

You can see it on moonless nights without a telescope, though we are seeing it for what it looked like 2.5 million years ago, not what it is right this second. Don’t get too comfortable, though; in about 4-5 billion years, its estimated our galaxy, the Milky Way, will collide with it forming into one giant galaxy.
