Empathy
Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of others and is a complex trait influenced by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. While there is evidence to suggest a hereditary component to empathy, it is not solely inherited from one side of the family. Empathy results from a blend of genetic predispositions and learned behaviors.

Individuals may inherit certain genetic traits that make them more prone to empathy, but it’s essential to realize the role of upbringing and early experiences in nurturing this trait. Grandparents, including grandmothers, can contribute to a child’s development of empathy by modeling and teaching emotional understanding and compassion. Therefore, while there may be genetic components to empathy, it is more accurately viewed as a product of both inherited tendencies and the nurturing environment in which one grows.
