#50: Mad Max and Waterworld

If there’s one story that people don’t seem to get tired of telling, it’s what would happen to the earth after some kind of apocalyptic event. We’ve seen many different iterations of this premise in Hollywood, including Mad Max and Waterworld.

In both of these films, extreme changes have come over the face of the earth, and the territory that is still inhabited is controlled by warlords. So is it possible, as this fan proposes, that they happened in the same world? Apparently, Peter Rader, who wrote Waterworld, has cited Mad Max as an inspiration. So it seems possible!
