#30: Encanto: Mirabel’s Gift
I’m usually not a big fan of musicals and songs in movies (let me watch the film in peace without being interrupted by song breaks every ten minutes), but the songs in Dinsey’s Encanto were truly magical. They’re actually one of the best parts of the animated film. If you haven’t watched it yet, you’re missing out!

Mirabel’s unique circumstance of not receiving a magical gift is central to the film’s wholesome message of family and community. Some fans have theorized that Mirabel’s lack of a gift is intentional, as the community needs her in a different way. Mirabel may serve as a safeguard, ensuring the preservation of her grandmother’s gift, which plays a vital role in protecting their home from potential invaders.
