#26: Shrek: His Name
Did you ever take a minute to consider Shrek’s name? I’ve never done that, and now that I think about it, what kind of name is that, anyway? One that is suitable for an ogre, I guess. In the first Shrek movie, there’s a charming moment when Donkey asks the ogre for his name, and Shrek hesitates before responding. Some fans have interpreted this pause as Shrek actually coming up with the name “Shrek” on the spot.

This theory adds a delightful layer of spontaneity to the character, suggesting that Shrek had never really considered what to call himself until that very moment. It aligns with his rough and unpolished exterior, reinforcing the idea that he’s a creature of few words who lives by his own rules and also does not have many people to interact with up to this moment.
