#20: Futurama: Suicide Booths
Here’s another fan theory about a TV show with a cult following. A lot of sci-fi shows (and a lot of real scientists) are interested in the concept of curing aging and death so that we could live forever if we wanted to. But a lot don’t really think about the potential effects and downfalls that would come about if we could suddenly cure death.

But maybe the animated series Futurama has actually grappled with this question in an interesting way. This fan proposes that perhaps the suicide booths seen in the year 3000 are not just a wacky sight gag but an inevitable part of a society where there aren’t a lot of other ways to die.
